Sundbyholms Slott with its castle and hotel is located in the middle of a nature reserve, surrounded by the sparkling waters of Lake Mälaren, walking paths, sandy beaches and the thousand-year-old Sigurdsristningen – Sörmland’s largest rock carving. Where steps meet history
Hiking at Sundbyholms Slott is something very special. Here, the paths wind through parks, Europe’s northernmost beech forest, open landscapes and along the sparkling waters of Lake Mälaren. The air is fresh, the views are calming and you decide the pace yourself.

Our hiking package is created for those who want to combine movement and nature experience with good food and comfort in a castle setting. Lace up your shoes, let your mind wander – and let us take care of the rest. During your walk, you may also recognize some of the environments from the opening episodes of the reality-show "Farmer Seeking a Wife" (Bonde Söker Fru), which were filmed here on location during 18 seasons.

Discover the surroundings at your own pace
With the castle as a starting point, several scenic walking trails await you. Follow the shoreline, take a walk through the nature reserve and enjoy the tranquility that only nature can provide. There are plenty of places to stop here – for a break, a picture or just a moment to breathe. On the tour you will receive a backpack (a cheese sandwich, water bottle, cookie and coffee in a thermos), picnic blanket, hiking map, binoculars and even a rain poncho – everything for a wonderful excursion. Walking poles are also available to borrow for those who wish.

Flavors as a reward
After the day's experiences, a three-course dinner awaits you in the castle's atmospheric halls, where nobility and royalty look down from the original paintings on the walls. You choose a starter, a main course and a dessert from a menu that contains meat, fish and vegetarian options. When booking online, please note your food allergies in the notes field.

Sleep like royalty
As a guest, you will spend the night comfortably in one of our individually decorated hotel rooms, all of which are equipped with extra comfortable beds. There are no hotel rooms in the castle building. The next morning, you will wake up to a generous breakfast buffet – perfect for fueling up for your morning walk.

Other acitivities

During the summer months, you and your party can also rent bicycles, canoes and standup paddleboards for more outdoor adventures. We also offer a full range of free activities that you can borrow for free at the hotel reception - boules, kubb, croquet, giant pick sticks, boxes of exercise equipment and more. During the summer months, Lake Mälaren's longest natural sandy beach attracts visitors just a stone's throw from the castle. For most of the year, you can also rent our outdoor hot spa baths. In the hotel lobby, there are both shuffleboard and air hockey tables close to the lobby bar. The bar in the castle's basement vault offers a pool table and a shuffleboard in cozy lounge areas. In the summer, you can also sit down on the castle's terrace and have a drink before dinner. From there, you have a beautiful view of the castle park and Lake Mälaren.
